Gaming Magazines Research
1. The main image on the front covers of gaming magazines is mostly the poster of the most popular / highest rated game that is out in the time of the magazine.
2. The average price of gaming magazines is from £2 to £5.
3. Gaming magazines would sometimes have prizes in them such as demos, promotional codes, posters.
4. They normally have games reviews, news about games and debates and sometimes they also have a link that people could go to, to vote for what games they prefer. They also include things that would help people who read the magazines beat the game.

What Makes a Great Magazine?
- Use of pictures: This means that the pictures have to be appropriate enough to be on the magazine, if the magazine is about fashion it means the pictures have to do with it, eg. Clothes, Jewelry, etc.
- Colours: They have to have the right colours for their audience for example, pink for girls and blue for boys.
- People: Use famous people to put in the magazine because people would be more interested in knowing about famous people rather than an unknown person.
- Gifts: Have a gift for the audience, Demo CDs etc.
The Magazine Unit
- You can work alone or in a pair
- 4 pages if working alone, 8 pages if working in pairs
- No inappropriate content
- No Pornography/Music Magazine

Ideas for my Film Website
I would have the banner on the top which is going to be a scene from the film and the title next to it, and under the title I would have my tagline.
I would also have a scary background with blood and gore pictures from scenes in the film, the colours would be red and black.
I would sell merchandise like mugs, clothing etc, to make money.
I would make Facebook groups, make games, trailers, videos to attract audience.

What makes a good film poster?
I think what makes a good film poster is having an eye catching title and pictures but they have to have something to do with the movie, movie genre etc. If the movie was a horror movie, the poster should have Dark red and black colours, red to represent the colour of blood and black to represent darkness.
The Film Posters should include:
- Age rating
- Release Date
- Name of the movie
- Credit Block
- Name of Main Actors
- Tagline
My Film Idea - First Draft
The genre of my film is Horror.
The age rating is going to be 15+.
This Film is going to be for people who enjoy action films as well as horror films because it is going to have many scenes that contain tension.
South London.
The story is about a serial killer that comes into a flat block, murdering people in it violently as well as torturing them before death. The setting is in one big flat block in south London. There will be brutal, extremely violent scenes like stabbing.

Video Games are Violent and will make you lazy.
So I think that it is not the video games' fault that you become lazy, you should have a limit to how much you play. Some people would say that video games are becoming really violent and are making game players very aggressive because they give the players an image, like if they are playing "GTA" they would get the image that they could do anything so they begin committing crimes, but the game makers put an age rating on the game so that they make sure the people playing it understand that the things that are happening in the game are wrong because they understand what the law is.

Conventions of a Horror Movie
The conventional colours for the Horror genre would be black and red, the black to represent the darkness and red to represent blood and gore. Horror films have many different locations, they are mostly set in houses, graveyards, and night times for darkness. The conventional Costumes would be a mask and dark leather clothing for the bad person but the victim would have bright, peaceful colours to make them look innocent. For the props, they would use violent things, for cereal killers, they would use big sharp weapons like a machete, sometimes they use guns. Examples of Horror Films are Paranormal Activities, Orphan, Hostel.
Different Film Marketing Methods and what they are suitable for
1. The marketing methods I can remember from today are:
Toys
Websites
Adverts
3. Today I learned that some film marketing methods are suited to particular genres of film. For example:
- The Dark Knight Viral Marketing Campaign, it involved people from around the US participating in a campaign that was like a game, players had to find clues and save/take over Gotham. Some people would choose to use things like:
Toys
Websites
Adverts
- Video Games 2.Today I learned that some film marketing methods are suited to particular audience. For example: Creating a Video Game for the film whose audience is 12 and older because most teenagers are interested in Video Games.
3. Today I learned that some film marketing methods are suited to particular genres of film. For example:
- Having a Scary Video Game for a film is best suited to a film which is from the Horror genre because people who play games and they play the game for the film would be interested in watching it.
- Having Toys for a film is best suited to a film which is from the cartoon genre because if children get the toy in a Happy Meal and they like it they would want to watch the film.
Viral Marketing Campaign
The term “viral” describes the way a message can become self-replicating as it is picked up and repeated across the Internet. it could basically such as pictures, websites or video clips.
3 examples of films that have used viral marketing:
The Blair Witch Project (1999)
They made a viral website so people would believed that the film is based on a real story. Viral Website: http://blairwitch.com/legacy.html
Cloverfield (2008)
They made a viral website, in the website there are pictures... so people would believe that film is real.
Website: http://www.1-18-08.com/
The last Exorcism
Tricking people through Chatroulette.
www.Chatroulette.com
Low budget film marketing campaign are films that have a very low amount of money to spend in the making of advertisement and in the making of the film.
High budget film marketing campaign are films that have a very high amount of money to spend in the making of advertisement and in the making of the film.

High Budget Marketing Campaigns
- High budget film will have a lot of of money to buy props and to hired actors for the making of the film and that that film will be good.
- High budget marketing campaign is when the company spend a lot of money for promoting the film before the film comes out in the cinemas.
- Spider Man 3 had a budget of 260 Million Dollars, it is an interesting film because a lot of people went to watch it.
- Avatar is also a good film because a lot of merchandises and a lot of people went to watch it and it had a budget of 237 million Dollars
- Titanic is a good old film and everyone knows about it and it was promoted because it was a real life story and people felt sad it had a budget 200 Million Dollars
Low Budget Marketing Campaigns
- A low budget film normally have a very low budget, could be as low as £100, home films normally have a very low budget.
- Low budget film marketing campaign are films that have a very low amount of money to spend in the making of the film.
- Paranormal Activities: because they used one place to film it and they only needed some furniture and actors.
The Blair Witch Project: because they filmed it in a forest and they did not have to pay to use the place. - They might want to make a more profit than loss, they do want to use more money to make the film because they want to earn a lot of money when it is released.
- It seems to be best for people who like watching reality movies, serious movies, normal movies (no superheroes etc..)

Film Marketing Research
- Film Marketing is anything that is used to advertise a film and gives some information to the audience, e.g. Trailers, Posters etc.
- Film Posters are posters that people use to advertise a film, this could include the name of the film, pictures, scenes and the age rating.
- A film trailer is a short video that people use to advertise a film and show the audience some scenes from the film, They also tell the audience what the film is about. The Film trailer I have chosen is very good because it shows a lot of information and includes most of the best scenes in the movie.
http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi4219471385/ - Film Merchandise are the objects that are sold in shops that have something to do with the film. e.g. Mug, Posters, T-Shirts, Toys.
- A film website is the page people would go on to find out what the film is about and to look at the trailer and find out other things about producers/ directors etc...
website: http://www.steelgetsreal.co.uk/
- Film companies make apps for phones, the iPhone has many apps, film companies make games for the iPhone. e.g. Iron Man, Fast and Furious, Star Wars. Apps also make the film companies money because people would buy the games and the companies receive the money.
The title is In Time and they have different things in the poster that represent time, (Numbers), The colours are black and white with light green to represent the numbers and make them stand out from the rest of the poster, the font looks like a digital time font and that links to the movie name, it shows the two main characters in the story and shows the actors names under the Film Title.
